Today, the reservation issue has made a great revolution in all parts of the nation. Men and materials arise both as pro and anti-parties. It is between the upward class and the other backward classes of the country. It is also between the upper class students and the UPA government. It is not right on their parts to bring in another term ‘reservation’ which have ended up in strikes, stone pelting, water discharges, hunger strikes and parades in the midst of other terrorists activities taking place in India . Altogether everything disturbs the routine day-to-day life of the public.
Perhaps, what is the use in undergoing such expeditions when the government is very strong? But even then the students protested under the slogan, “Equality for the Equals”, “Why is the government afraid to appoint a commission to prepare a white paper on the issue of reservations?”
Basically the majority of Indian population is the Dalits. Out of the 100 crore people in India only 4 crore people are the economically and socially-uplifted community. So under the aegis of the Congress Leader, Madam Sonia Gandhi, in an attempt to bring complete development in India within a decade or so, the former Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh decided to lift the education system for the backward students. But he failed to look into the fact that though Dalits comprise the majority of the people in India, it is that 4% of the nation that has been striving to develop our nation and bring it to at least this level after 58 years of independence. So whatever be the case, so as not to hurt the upper class minority and at the same time uplift the socially, educationally, and economically backward people and pupils.
Though the students were very insistent, the Grey Hairs did not even consider their thoughts and needs. They must have forgotten the Gandhian principle, “From the Bottom Upwards”. Their remedial measures need to start right from the Elementary.
Our Indian Government have to look into the act of arranging interviews for the kindergarden children and their parents. Children, at the age of 3 or 4, when stepping into school, they are questioned. The very first step if their life has an obstacle. They are being under-weighed or over-weighed depending on their parent’s ability which is totally injustice. Also, there are many students in government and government-aided schools where even their basic facilities are met with. It is not surprising to say that many students of backward states like Jharkand and Bihar have to walk at least 2 to 3 miles to reach their nearest ‘under-the-tree’ school. When such kinds of reality prevail in India, and wholly knowing such events, it is absolutely wrong on their part of the government to put forth such rule.
People especially sometimes wonder if they are in a democratic government. Meanwhile, what actually is this 27% based on and to whom are these quotas being given to?
the socially-backward [which was created by man himself]
the economically-backward [a consequence]
the educationally backward [another evil consequence]
Anti-quota protestors feel that the quota and the reservation completely separate students themselves.
And the beauty is that it was the pro-quota protestors who were much more violent [in Patna]. But, on the whole all students had to take their way back home because of the intervention of Supreme Court order demanding order and decorum in the country.
So, what is the government trying to make? The former Finance Minister, P.Chidambaram quotes his own life and shows out himself as being benefited by the quota system in the Presidency College and Loyola College. But then he refuses to let out his speech in the Cabinet at the Capital. So what actually is the mystery behind? How is the Government going to conclude?
The Congress Spokesman, Jayanthi Natarajan robustly tells there is no way of taking back the law installed because Dalits are the majority of the nation. There are also info that the HRD Minister, all because he did not have a chance of becoming the Prime Minister, made a reckless plan as such. When such situations exist, a Bangalore student raises his voice against the UPA government in his hatred that it has no best ministers and that Manmohan Singh is the worst. Dr.Anjali, a psychiatrist warns the government saying that today’s youth may lose complete belief in the present system and many move abroad. If this happens, what is the status of India then?
So now, we are in a situation where a balance in an unbalanced state is present. On the left pan is the educationally well-to-do students and in the other is the late-bloomers. Is the Government going to make the whole show stable or not? Let us wait and watch. But the government must be patient till bringing up the backward community and imparting equal education throughout the country at the primary level. Then there will be no more great problems to face.
